Day 95 Kamloops, BC to Merritt, BC 80km

We had another steep climb to start our day out of Kamloops. We had a nice peaceful cycle on the lac le jeune road before we joined the busier highway 5 all the way to Merritt. We then had a glorious 20km descent to finish our day. We are starting to notice signs for Vancouver now as the finish creeps closer.

Day 94 Chase BC to Kamloops, BC 62km

We had a beautiful day cycling alongside the South Thompson River to Kamloops. We had a very steep climb to get up once we reached Kamloops, but the rest of the day was flat. We stopped to take a photo next to the river and spotted a bear and cub. They were playing in the water right next to a golf course. We were on the opposite side of the river so we stopped and watched them for a while. Tomorrow we turn south as we close in on Vancouver.

Day 93 Sicamous, BC to Chase, BC 83km

We had a beautiful day for cycling today and spent it rolling through the Shuswap lake region. We had a decent climb at the end of the day and unfortunately Brian got a puncture at the bottom. I didn't notice he wasn't behind me until I reached the top and I then had to roll back down the hill and climb it again which was pretty heartbreaking.

Day 92 Revelstoke, BC to Sicamous, BC 72km

The weather was much warmer today as we are out of the higher elevations. We had a nice gentle descent into sicamous. We are travelling on route one which is also known as the transcanada highway. It's a busy road but the scenery is beautiful.

Day 91 Golden, BC to Revelstoke, BC 150km

It was freezing this morning when we woke up. The temperature was around -2c with a thick fog down aswell. I was wearing four layers of clothes when we set off and wasn't long in loosing the feeling in my toes. The fog cleared and the temperature picked up at around midday. We had no choice but to make it to Revelstoke due to the fact that there is no services between Golden and there. We passed through the Canadian Glacier national park and Mt. Revelstoke national park. Once again the scenery was amazing. We also crossed into our final timezone and are now on pacific time.

Day 90 Banff, Alberta to Golden, BC (Snow day)

We woke to about 6 inches of snow this morning in Banff. This meant that cycling was not an option. Kenneth and Michelle offered to drive us away from Banff, so after a trip to Canmore to buy a bike rack we set off. We visited the Johnston canyon which required a 5km hike. Although it was quite cold it was beautiful. We then visited the spectacular Takakkaw falls. Kenneth and Michelle dropped us to Golden and without their help over the past two days we would have been in a bad situation. It is forecast to get as low as -13c in Banff tonight but luckily here in Golden it is only forecast to go to -2c. We are expecting a cold day tomorrow.
